Happy 64 Birthday to me!

I can't believe I'm going to be 64 in a few days! Don't get me wrong, no way am I ashamed of being 64, quite the opposite! I am so happy to have reached this age. There are plenty of people that didn't get the chance to be 64, I am grateful that I have that privilege. Cheers to me!

My Retired Ass!

Since I retired from PGE, I do not have to stress out over the weather anymore! It snows, I don't care - I am free to enjoy it without worrying about how I am going to get to work. You have to understand, working for a utility it is a condition of employment to report to work no matter the weather. You do not have the luxury of staying home because "the weather is bad". I'll never forget the winter of 1996 during  major outage, I had a co-worker use the excuse that she couldn't go to work because of her asthma. Whaaaaat????? It was a call center for Christ's sake. We were dealing with a major outage. I worked 12 hour days for two weeks without a day off. I didn't see Cyndi until the outage was over. Yeah, asthma my ass. Guess what Cyndi is doing now - she's a supervisor in customer service. Guess what I'm doing now - yeah, that's right, my ass is retired and I do not care!

Merry Christmas and Happy 2019!

Friday, November 30, 2018

Happy Thanksgiving! When my turn came around the dinner table to state what I was thankful for, I answered “family and a great life”. I looked around the table at my family and indeed belonging to a wonderful family like mine is truly a blessing. And I do have a great life. I’m retired and do not want or need the stress I had working for a jackass boss who created a toxic environment. Screw that! So grateful that I was able to retire, and I love my life now. It’s not perfect but what is?

It’s been a great summer. I haven’t worked since May and I do not miss it! I’m enjoying the changes of the season, I never used to appreciate it. Fall was always a bummer, it marked the end of summer. Having to wait for the morning bus in the dark. Coming home in the dark. Constant rain. Always dark and cold. But this year (so far) I have been enjoying the leaves turning colors and the bright fall sunshine. This is a new perspective for me. I’m just learning the “retired” life. I’ve worked since I was 16 and I’ve never had the time and/or luxury of just “being” and not having to worry about getting up, going to work, keeping a job, making money. It sure is different but I’m liking it!
